Arura needs you

27 July - 03 August 2024

Venue: Ballymena Academy

It might sound like a cliché, but it’s true. Arura cannot happen without the support of people like you; people who are passionate about seeing young peoples’ lives transformed.

So how can you help? There are two types of role at Arura: Leaders & Workers. Read on to find out more about each.

Leaders

Leaders play a crucial role at Arura. They are at the cutting edge of the camp and will have the most personal input into the young people’s experience of Arura.

Leaders will be responsible for a small number (probably 5-6) of similar-aged boys or girls. This group will be made up of young people from different churches, who are unlikely to all know each other.

Leaders will help the young people get to know each other, will participate in the activities with them – caring for them throughout the week.

Leaders must have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and may be asked to facilitate daily Bible discussions in these groups. Leaders stay on-site with the young people.

We also have Assistant Leaders who support the leaders of small groups. An Assistant Leader will be at least 18.

Workers

Workers are the backbone of Arura ensuring all things operate safely and smoothly.

Workers will be given a number of daily tasks, and workers can choose to find their own accomodation and stay off site.

While time with the young people is more limited, there will be many opportunities to participate in the life of the camp.

Examples of worker responsibilities are:

Retail (aka The Gap): The hub of Arura will be the Gap - the place on site where everyone can chill out between activities. We need workers to run the café, with its tuck shop, gift shop and bookshop.

Facilities: Set up talk rooms, unload lorries, drive a minibus, empty bins, maintain the site, work a soud desk, etc. etc.!

Catering: Join the catering team and help feed hungry mouths!

Activities: One day you might be asked to referee a game, and the next you may be keeping young people safe while on an outing!

Arura simply cannot operate without committed workers who choose to serve in these very practical ways!

Registration for Leaders and Workers is now closed.
